Mechanic
A Brief Overview
The Mechanic is responsible for providing preventative maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles, equipment, and communications equipment onsite and in the field making electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as trucks, trailers, excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and more.
What you will do
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor/major repairs of fleet vehicles, trucks, and diesel equipment in the garage and in the field to include making electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
• Schedule service appointments off premises for vehicle repairs not able to be performed in house. Schedule dielectric and structure tests for trucks.
• Repair facility gates, when issues arise and/or any other issues at the assigned location.
• Make frequent inspections of the vehicles and equipment, noting all maintenance requirements. Submit recommendations for the performance of major mechanical requirements.
• Transport heavy duty equipment to work site locations.
• Purchase and maintain inventory of necessary parts, equipment and garage supplies for fleet maintenance and garage.
• Install and maintain mobile communication equipment, GPS, accessories, and additional add-on equipment in fleet vehicles.
• Maintain garage and related work area in a neat, clean, safe, and orderly condition free of recognized hazards.
• Performs cycle counts in accordance with Cooperative processes and procedures.
• Assist with maintaining warehouse and storage yard clean and free of debris performing general housekeeping of outside grounds of warehouse, as requested.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma High school diploma or equivalent Required or
• Associate's Degree Automotive Mechanics or related field Preferred or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
• 3-5 years Experience with diesel, heavy equipment and hydraulic repair Required
• Must have thorough knowledge and experience with but not limited to: hydraulic systems, gas engines, diesel engines, electrical systems, drive trains and various hand tools
• Welding experience
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A) Upon Hire Required
• Welding Certification Required
• Forklift Certification Preferred
• Inspection/ASE Certification Preferred
